Gear-Head : Trying not to be a total gear-head

I have been looking at getting a field monitor for our video production for a while now.  So when I traded in my iPad for a Google Nexus 7 I found that there was an Android app to turn it into a field monitor.  After doing some research I stumbled upon DSLR Film Noob who had already come up with some really good ideas about this on his blog.

The problem I came across was how to mount the Nexus to the camera on a budget.  A bit more research and I found Ultimate Addons on Amazon - after purchasing the Tablet Cradle Holder and Tripod Adapter and a few other bits I was sorted.

This set up allows me to compose easier, obtain critical focus faster, makes focus pulling easier and also allows me to keep the client happy by letting them easily monitoring the filming.  Until I get my hands on a proper field monitor this one is perfect.

Next on my gear list .... a DSLR camera cage.
